Amazon.com Children love stories told by engaging storytellers, the winning formula of Thomas and Friends tales about a group of toy trains on the island of Sodor, based on the "Railway Series" by Reverend W. Awdry. Preschool fans from around the world, a loyal bunch that can identify with the spunky and mischievous tank engine bearing a green number six, selected this best-of compilation of favorite Percy episodes. There are nine short stories here, narrated by George Carlin and Ringo Starr, which focus on a dilemma and end with a gentle moral message. Percy is usually in a predicament because of cheeky behavior, such as in "Percy Takes a Plunge," where he finds himself in a water hole, or worse still, covered in sticky goop in "A Scarf for Percy." And who can forget "Percy's Ghostly Trick" when, after telling some chilling ghost stories, Percy hits a cart of limestone and the dust turns him ghostly white, giving his friends a fright. Though Percy delivers mail, transports children, and helps other engines, he always finds time for practical jokes and ensuing misadventures. There are moments of bravery and bravado, heroism and humiliation tucked between plenty of mishaps. Preschool kids can relate to Percy's predicaments and his earnest desire to be useful and appreciated. They'll walk away with valuable lessons on friendship, resourcefulness, and forgiveness. And train fanatics, young and old, will find plenty to enjoy with a bounty of railway terms and realistic train miniatures. (Ages 2 to 6 years old) --Lynn Gibson
Description This special collector's edition features nine favorite stories where Percy's spunk and determination lead him into all sorts of humorous situations. With classic storytelling by George Carlin and Ringo Starr. This commemorative video honoring Percy includes these nine terrific tales: The Ghostly Trip - Percy delights in scary stories and is disappointed when Thomas and the others tell him they are not true. When an accidental bump coats him with a freight full of white powdery lime, he decides to play a ghostly prank on his pal Thomas. A Scarf for Percy - It is the coldest winter day and Percy wishes for a scarf to keep warm. After an argument with James, he steams into the station, crashing into a load of cartons. This time he really gets into a jam - literally. And the scarf he ends up with turns out to be Sir Topham Hatt's trousers! Percy Takes a Plunge - Percy insists on testing the limits. He ignores a warning sign and decides to ask the rail cars to help him play a trick on Thomas and the others. But instead of proving his point, he finds himself testing the waters. Percy's Predicament - Percy annoys the rail cars by ordering them around. The cars won't allow him to brake at the station and he finds himself stuck. Thomas, Percy and the Mail Train - The mail is delayed by weather and Percy wants to make up time on the next run. Harold the Helicopter brags that he can deliver mail more swiftly, but Percy delivers on time. Percy Runs Away - The little green engine is shunting cars on the main line and not heeding the others' warning that he should whistle to the signal man. When Gordon comes steaming toward him with the express train, Percy backs up and can't stop. Percy and the Signal - Again, Percy's tricks get him into trouble. He pretends to know what all the signals mean, but when he comes up to an unfamiliar sign, he ends up going in the wrong direction. Percy Proves a Point - to Harold in this episode. The haughty helicopter calls Percy slow and old-fashioned, but the little green engine proves his power in a thrilling race. Percy's Promise - is to bring a group of children home from the beach on time. It's summer on the island of Sodor, but a spell of bad weather almost prevents their return. Though the trip has its wet spots, Percy brings the children back safely, prompting Sir Topham Hatt to dub him a "Really Useful Engine."

Percy Fans Rejoice! October 30, 2004 Cumulonimbus Harpe (Fresno, California, United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Celebrate the Best of Percy in this wonderful video containing 9 episodes starring your favorite little green engine, Percy. Pretty much all of the best Percy stories are included on here. The only funny episode that wasn't on here is Wolly Bear. That was my favorite Percy episode where Percy gets hay stuck to him and Thomas calls him a wolly bear. But the other episodes on here are good too and I guarantee that you will like this video and want to watch it over and over again. Even I liked it and I'm not a major fan of Percy. The stories on here include; Percy's Ghostly Trick, A Scarf For Percy, Percy Takes A Plunge, Percy's Predicament, Thomas Percy and the Mail Train, Percy Runs Away, Percy & the Signal, Percy Proves A Point, and Percy's Promise.
Percy is the greatest February 20, 2004 Mr. Bey (Riverside, CT United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm glad that Ringo has a episode on this tape. Wooly Bear should've been on this one and so should Percy's debut episode. Not a bad bunch of episodes though. The best of tapes are good for people who love a certain character but I like the Ringo narrations the best. Percy is my favorite character and Percy's Ghostly Trick is a great episode too. Percy is so cheaky and innocent and he likes to cause mischeif. He plays tricks on the other engines but he can be very useful also. In Percy's Promise he sticks to his word no matter what. This tape is great for people who are just starting their collection.
The BEST of Percy!! August 25, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one great Thomas and Friends video. One of my favorite engines is Percy and they came out with one great video all about Percy. The stories on this video are: Percy's Ghostly Trick, A Scarf For Percy, Percy Takes a Plunge, Percy's Predicament, Thomas, Percy, and the Mail Train, Percy Runs Away, Percy and the Signal, Percy Proves a Point, and Percy's Promise. My favorite story is Percy's Predicament. All the stories are told by George Carlin except Percy Takes a Plunge is told by Ringo Starr. If your child's favorite engine is Percy, then he will love this video.
First Best of Video April 7, 2003 I like this Best of Percy video. I have three favorite stories. One of them is Percy's Perdicament. Another one of them is Percys Takes A Plunge. My last favorite story is Percy Proves A Point. I have other favorite videos like James Learns A Lesson and Tenders and Turntables. Maybe some kids may be afraid of the first story but the rest of the stories are good and not scary. This is a must have video.
Best of Percy February 7, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would just like to say all the Best of tapes are great! Who dosn't love Percy. Anyway this tape has to do with learning, helping, and other moral values. I think Percy is a great engine to show these morals. If your kid is just getting in to Thomas you should buy him this tape because the Best of tapes are episodes taken from other tapes. If you plan to buy this tape you've made a good choice in my opinion.
